Cardiopulmonary Exercise and Lung Function Testing

HealthTest's first product is a Cardio Pulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) system sourced in Italy and the USA.

The CPET solution provided is a high precision stress test with detailed physiological assessment that represents the next generation in exercise testing. The systems provided in the UK by HealthTest use a state of the art bicycle that safely allows patients to exercise to their capacity. In the US the system is provided as part of a service that includes provision of trained technicians that administer the test and support from a central Operations team that interpret the results and provide the diagnostic support to the patient’s doctor. It is intended to replicate this service is the UK. The solution has evolved over the past 5 years by working closely with cardiologists and primary care physicians in the evaluation of the most difficult patients with exercise intolerance. The following metabolic parameters are derived from Cardiopulmonary Stress Testing (CPET):

• Breathing reserve
• Oxygen saturation
• Anaerobic threshold
• Respiratory exchange ratio
• Oxygen pulse
• Ventilatory equivalent for carbon dioxide
• Peak oxygen consumption per unit time adjusted for lean body mass
• Oxygen pulse adjusted for lean body mass

The tests provide a route to diagnose problems for three clinical areas:

• Obstructive or Restrictive Pulmonary diseases
• Cardiac diseases
• Diseases affecting metabolic function

The pulmonary tests establish in detail how the patient’s lungs are functioning in terms of the breathing capacity, tidal flow, and absorption of oxygen, production of Co2 and distribution of oxygen to the tissues. The core CPET system is procured from COSMED in Italy with MET-test software, diagnostic support services and system service providing significant added value.
